The Study Course in Bachelor's degree in Applied Mathematics
it is ‘open’ but requires students to take a compulsory yet non-binding TOLC-I test. Please note that the TOLC-I test is compulsory but not binding for admission and allows you to enroll regardless of your test score. However, students who do not pass the test will have to make up the missing OFA (Obblighi Formativi Aggiuntivi) credits in order to enroll, which must be satisfied within the first year of the course, otherwise it will not be possible to proceed with enrollment in the second year.
Read the admission requirements - Part-time membership
- The Course also offers the possibility of part-time enrollment. For more information on the required requirements and the benefits provided, see the service page.

How to enroll
Step 1 – Register for and take the TOLC-I test.
1. Read the following procedure carefully to enroll in the Applied Mathematics degree course;
2. Sign in on the CISIA website.
3. Register for the TOLC-I test on the CISIA website (you will be asked to pay a registration fee of €35): please keep the receipt: you will need to show it in order to enter the classroom. You can take the TOLC-I test on site (TOLC@UNI) or remotely (TOLC@CASA).
4. Take the TOLC-I test (you can take it on dates set by the University of Verona, or by any another university part of the CISIA network).
Please note: each candidate may take each individual TOLC test, regardless of the mode of delivery, no more than once per (calendar) month. The updated TOLC-I calendar can be found at the following link: Calendario TOLC-I. For further information: Regolamento TOLC.
Step 2 – Register for the Eligibility Check (pre-enrolment) starting from July 2026:
5. Log into ESSE3.
6. Submit your documents for the Eligibility Check on ESSE3 (Instructions for evaluation procedure). You can do so even before taking the TOLC-I test, as long as the test is taken in the period of validity of the test for enrolment. You won’t need to enter the TOLC test score, since this is automatically acquired by the system.
7. Check the results on ESSE3. Your status will appear as one of the following:
• PROVA DA EFFETTUARE (Eligibility Check still to be carried out) – this means that the TOLC-I test has not been taken yet and/or saved in the system. The TOLC test score is displayed approximately 48 hours (two days) after the test;
• PRESENTE (Exempt, or passed) - this means that your entry requirements have been judged as valid (your TOLC test result is valid and correctly saved in the system). In this case, you can go on to Step 3.
Students are advised that they should check the results dashboard on ESSE3 regularly, as they will not receive any personal communications by the University about their application.
Step 3 – Enrol
8. If your status reads PRESENTE, register on ESSE3 by the deadlines indicated on this web page (Instructions for enrollment). To complete your enrolment, you will need to scan and upload a passport photo that complies with the requirements set out in: "How to add your photo". PLEASE NOTE: students applying for a course change within the University of Verona must follow the procedures indicated in steps 1 and 2 above.
9. From the ‘payment’ dashboard on ESSE3 make the payment of the first instalment of your student fees via PagoPa.
10. Wait for confirmation email. Please note: you will not receive the confirmation email immediately, since the Enrolment Office will need to process and check your documents and qualifications before confirming your enrolment.

Requesting auxiliary aids when taking a test can only be done on the CISIA website. For more information: Supporto per le prove di ammissione per candidati con disabilità o DSA.
