Learning objectives
The aim of the workshop is the in-depth examination of some of the most significant material policies falling within the competence of the European Union, focusing on those that are most relevant at any given time.
Thanks to the workshop activities, participating students will gain a detailed understanding of how the European Union intervenes in specific sectors, examining the purposes of the powers exercised, the acts adopted and the relevant case law, in order to acquire greater mastery, including in practical and applied terms, in the analysis and interpretation of European Union law.
Prerequisites and basic notions
Completion of the European Union Law examination.
Program
In the academic year 2025/26 (second semester), the workshop will focus on development cooperation policy.
This is a particularly important policy, as the EU institutions and countries together are the world's largest donor, promoting good governance and human and economic development, combating hunger and safeguarding natural resources in more than 150 partner countries.
In response to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, the EU institutions are working together and providing funding to address the following five aspects of sustainable development:
- ending poverty and hunger in all its forms and ensuring dignity and equality;
- protecting future generations from environmental destruction and resource depletion;
- ensuring a prosperous and rewarding life in harmony with nature;
- achieving peaceful, just and inclusive societies;
- implementing development cooperation through global partnerships.
Didactic methods
The workshop, open to a maximum of twenty students, will involve the following stages of work:
- division into groups and reading of the materials provided by the teachers to each group by uploading them on the moodle platform;
- periodic meetings between the workshop coordinators and the students to share the reflections and conclusions of the different groups. The meetings will be held in semesters 2A and 2B and will be scheduled in consultation with the participants;
- preparation of a single final product (video, paper, PowerPoint presentation) that reflects the critical analysis and personal conclusions of the students;
- presentation of this product at a meeting open to the public, which this year will be held as part of the “Festival Verona Europa”, promoted by the Municipality of Verona and sponsored by the University, now in its fourth edition (4-20 May 2026 - https://www.instagram.com/veronaeuropa/).
The workshop is open to students of the single-cycle Master's degree programme in Law and the Master's degree programme in Law for Technology and Sustainable Innovation.
