Program

PART I
This module will offer basic notions on the demolinguistics oof Spanish language in relation to the publishing market, focusing on the language of journalism and advertising:
– elements of the history of publishing in Spain;
– linguistical ideas and lexical innovation through the press;
– analysis of characteristics of journalistic and advertising texts;
– linguistic and metalinguistic analysis of journalistic texts and adverts.

Didactic methods

Lectures will be supported by Powerpoint presentations; there will also be workshop-style classes with practical activities focusing on the linguistical analysis of journalistic texts and advertising texts. The course will be taught in Spanish.
Methods of teaching support:
Guidelines and teaching materials will be uploaded in the Moodle platform of the module. In addition, the lecturer is available during her office hours, which can also be arranged via ZOOM if necessary.

Learning assessment procedures

– Students who attend lectures
LM19 (6 CFU): One assignment (presentation) to be completed during the course and a final oral exam on compulsory bibliography. Attending students will receive further information on assessment methods when the lectures begin.
– Students who do not attend lectures
LM19 (6 CFU): Oral exam on the complete syllabus bibliography and the teaching material on Moodle platform during official exam sessions.

Students with disabilities or specific learning disorders (SLD), who intend to request the adaptation of the exam, must follow the instructions given HERE

Evaluation criteria

The exam will be an oral test that will ascertain the depth of knowledge acquired on the topics on the syllabus, as well as the ability to connect the information as a network of knowledge.
