GERM-01/C - Lingua, traduzione e linguistica tedesca

Learning objectives

On successful completion of this module, students will able to:
- illustrate and exemplify important diachronic processes in phonology, morphology and syntax;
- explain language change in terms of the effects of general linguistic principles;
- demonstrate knowledge with respect to the edition of medieval texts;
- analyze simple texts of the main genres in medieval German with respect to their phonological, morphological, syntactic and lexical properties, translate them and interpret them;
- illustrate the historicity of all expressions of human culture, by means of the reflection about language change and history of linguistics;
- elaborate topics autonomously and present results in oral and/or written form (give a talk; write a paper);
- demonstrate good command of important and, first and foremost, digital resources and instruments of German historical linguistics.
