Learning objectives

The course is held in German and aims at analysing and comparing literary texts of various genres, from the XVIIIth to the XXth Century, with the most recent instruments of literary criticism, such as semiotics, intertexuality, intermediality, narratology, reception theory and history, cultural studies and translation studies. At the end of the course students will be able to attain deep knowledge both of the historical context and of the different literary works. They will also be able to analyse and understand the texts dealt with during the lessons and to properly express their knowledge in German.

Program

"Laocoon" readings. The course is aimed at investigating the relationship between literature and visual arts, verbal and pictorial signs in German Classicism, as well as at analysing the most important descriptions of the Laocoon group, created by Winckelmann, Lessing, Heinse, Hirt, Goethe and Warburg.

Didactic methods

Frontal lessons in German. Any lessons missed will be made up at the end of the course. Non-attending students are requested to contact the teacher to agree on the program.

Learning assessment procedures

Oral exam lasting an average of twenty minutes to be taken in German.

Students with disabilities or specific learning disorders (SLD), who intend to request the adaptation of the exam, must follow the instructions given HERE

Evaluation criteria

Ability to understand and to analyze the literary texts and the critical essays of the programm.

Criteria for the composition of the final grade

Vote in thirtieths.
