Learning objectives

Knowledge and understanding 1. Knowing and Understanding the fundamental concepts of intercultural competences, their operating methods and the limits of their measurement. 2. Understanding the meaning and value of working and research methods of intercultural education in different contexts. Applying knowledge and understanding 1. Improving the own intercultural competences, by development of practical educational projects and pedagogical researches. 2. Using the acquired intercultural competences, verifying their validity and effectiveness in all the situations, especially in those characterized by conflicts generated by ethnic, social or cultural differences. 3. Developing the ability of learning from own personal, cultural and professional experience in heterogeneous contexts.

Program

-Foundational elements of General and Intercultural Pedagogy: -constitutive elements of General Pedagogy and new pedagogical currents (problematicism, empiricism, personalism);
-epistemology and development of transcultural, multicultural, and intercultural Pedagogy;
-intercultural competence at school, in the family, in professions, in the media, and in society;
-conflict management and intercultural mediation;
-cooperative learning, problem solving, management of heterogeneous and complex groups.

Didactic methods

The Lessons will be structured to encourage interactivity and participation in the classroom; therefore, they will be characterized by face-to-face moments and cooperative work (exercises, simulations, thematic insights, etc.). In addition to the materials presented in class, additional materials will be shared (videos, articles, etc.). Case studies and testimonials will also be proposed to understand how the topics covered are applied in the practice of the educator's work in various socio-educational contexts. Attendance is strongly recommended.

Learning assessment procedures

Oral exam with an approximate duration of 20'. The books to be studied are the same for attending and non-attending students, as well as for Erasmus students.

Students with disabilities or specific learning disorders (SLD), who intend to request the adaptation of the exam, must follow the instructions given HERE

Evaluation criteria

During the exam, the knowledge of the exam program, the critical-reflective capacity with respect to the concepts and theories that are exposed, the use of the correct pedagogical language, and the ability to connect theories and concepts to hypotheses of practical prefigurations will be assessed.

Criteria for the composition of the final grade

Grade out of 30.
