Learning objectives
The course aims to provide students with essential interpretative elements to analyze and manage nonprofit organizations and, in detail, ETS (enti del terzo settore). Students will know the fundamental concepts of management and accounting for nonprofit organizations at the end of the course. Furthermore, students will be able to read and interpret institutional and financial documents of nonprofit organizations and analyze social reports and social impact reports.
Prerequisites and basic notions
The course is designed to introduce students to the basics of Business Economics as applied to non-profit organizations, the third sector, and social enterprises; therefore, it requires no prerequisites.

Learning assessment procedures
Assessment of learning outcomes includes a written exam (common to all) and an optional oral exam; candidates can request to take the latter if the written exam passes. The exam procedures are identical for both attending and non-attending students.
Evaluation criteria
The written exam is designed to assess knowledge of the syllabus topics and the ability to apply logical frameworks to various business problems. The written exam consists of open-ended and multiple-choice questions covering all syllabus topics. The oral exam consists of an interview covering the entire syllabus and is designed to assess: • the depth and breadth of knowledge acquired; • language proficiency; • the ability to systematically connect knowledge; • analytical and argumentative skills.
Criteria for the composition of the final grade
Grades are expressed in thirtieths. Practical group activities will be offered in class (maximum one per lesson). Successful completion of these activities will earn students an additional grade on the exam.
