Learning outcomes
The aim of this course is to investigate the crucial micro and macroeconomic problems. Economics is, after all, the science of choice. In microeconomics, the focus is on the polar models of perfect competition, monopolistic competition, monopoly and oligopoly. A specific analysis concerns the role of costs and the determinants of demand and supply. In macroeconomics, the focus is on the salient macro models, with a specific attention to the Keynesian an monetarist perspectives and to the most important approaches which follow in the time. A peculiar research is carried out into the problems of inflation and deflation. Another purpose of macroeconomic theory is to explain the business cycle to identify the forces that cause the overall economy to expand or contract. An investigation concerns how government policy affects growth.
