Performative aspects of poetry, from "oral literature" to vocal performance by actors and poets themselves, up to experimental forms such as sound poetry. 2. Theater as a social and artistic phenomenon. Three fundamental moments in the history of European theater will be examined: tragedy in ancient Greece; Italian Renaissance theater and the commedia dell'arte; nineteenth-century theater in France and Italy.
