Learning outcomes
This workshop is meant to provide an introduction to most widespread web services, main web publishing tools and the laws and regulations concerning publishing of cultural heritage data.
Students will learn how to design, implement (graphic, text & multimedia) and publish online their web sites.
The aim is to provide students with necessary skills to autonomously manage some of the most commonly used applications to create web sites.
Program
The workshop is divided into two modules: the first is dedicated to theoretical and practical lessons; the second is dedicated to designing and implementing a prototype of a website.
Module 1, theoretical and practical lessons:
- the Internet and the web: communication protocols, accessibility and usability standards;
- web technologies: HTML programming, CSS style sheets, Content Management Systems;
- web design fundamentals: layout, color schemas, fonts; multimedia;
- contents: GDPR, copyright and free licenses;
- designing and creating a website: from requirements gathering to deployment;
Module 2, workshop activities: creation of a website:
- design: scope, requirements gathering, structuring contents;
- implementation: development of a prototype (by coding in HTML or using a CMS).
Warning: Attendance at at least 70% of the workshop is required.

Lessons start on April 11, times: Mondays 11.50 -13.30 and Wednesdays 10.10-11.50.

Examination Methods
The exam consists in presentating and discussing the design and prototype of a website, created by applying the acquired skills. Students must send their project and prototype to the teacher at least 10 days before the exam.
Students must also have understood the topics covered. Other instructions in the moodle platform.
