Learning objectives

The course is proposed as a starting point for the approach to the themes and methodologies of contemporary history. It intends to provide the knowledge of the main events of European history from 1789 to 1914 and is focused on political, cultural and social history which is dealt with a comparative and transnational perspective.

Prerequisites and basic notions

Knowledge of 19th-century European history
