Learning outcomes
This course provides an overview of the history of Scientific Psychology and of the basic psychological processes. At the end of the course the student will also be able to critically analyse strengths and limitations of the theoretical and research paradigms presented during the lessons.
Program
This course provides an overview of the main contents in Psychology as Experimental Science.
First of all, the course provides a historical overview of General Psychology, describing the evolution of the most important theoretical paradigms and showing their definitions of objects and methods of Scientific Psychology.
The main investigation fields will be then examined: sensation, perception, learning, memory, motivation, thought, language, development, social psychology and personality.
