Learning objectives

Theoretical Philosophy
The teaching program aims to teach the fundamentals of the theory and language of philosophy in such a way that students will be able to independently recognize and understand the internal relationship between philosophical concepts and issues. To encourage this, the teaching program will cover a number of central issues to the European and, in some cases, extra-European philosophical traditions.
At the end of the course, students will know the main conceptual lines of Western philosophical tradition and the most important debates going on in contemporary philosophical. They will also be able to comprehend philosophical texts, to set them within a proper critical frame, to employ a correct philosophical terminology, and to autonomously form judgements on the subjects dealt with in classes. Finally, they will also be capable to communicate philosophical contents to specialists and non-specialists alike, and to continue their studies at a MA level.

PHILOSOPHY AND ANARCHY
Anarchy is not just a political belief but a way of thinking. Parmenides uses the word “anarchon” to call a principle that is not subject to anything but itself. The “anarchon” principle occupies the center of the sphere of being and dominates it. A long argument around the anarchist principle is the book The Ego and Its Property by Max Stirner, which usually passes for a mad celebration of selfishness and nihilism. Marx and Engels said that Stirner’s man is the bourgeois who imagines himself as a revolutionary, whose freedom he caricatures. But who is really the Ego? And what is its property? The Ego is the ultimate incarnation of the “anarchon” principle, which requires – as the last line of the book says – to stake oneself entirely on the truth of nothingness. What is the meaning of such sibylline statements? Stirner's philosophy is a journey through an experience that strengthens itself by tearing down idols, that refuses to age with time, to be reborn at every moment new and absolute.

Learning assessment procedures

Oral exam of about 30 minutes. The examiner is the teacher who held the course. The exam is the same for those who have attended the lessons and those who have not.

Students with disabilities or specific learning disorders (SLD), who intend to request the adaptation of the exam, must follow the instructions given HERE

Evaluation criteria

1) ability to study and analyze texts
2) ability to clearly and appropriately explain what has been studied
3) possession and precise understanding of fundamental concepts

Criteria for the composition of the final grade

Vote in thirtieths.
