M-FIL/03 - MORAL PHILOSOPHY
Period
Sem. 2A dal Feb 18, 2019 al Mar 30, 2019.
Learning outcomes
The course aims at equipping students with a set of conceptual instruments and styles of thought concerning some great anthropological issues characterizing contemporary world and contemporary philosophical elaboration.
By the end of the course, students are expected to possess sufficient autonomy in retracing the main issues of the course and master its philosophical language and main conceptual issues.
Program
The course will address the post-structuralist thought of the Brazilian anthropologist Eduardo Viveiros de Castro who, taking up and developing the philosophical reflection of Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari, has proposed an anthropological focused on an "anti-narcissistic" posture, capable of breaking sovereignty of the subject and his supposed preeminence on the object analyzed. Lessons will examine in depth the notions of "amerindian perspectivism", "multinaturalism", "semiophagy" and "specularity", in their ethical and epistemological implications; following the proposed texts, we will try to outline a philosophical anthropology and an ethics of subjectivation that will renounce to treat the Other as a mirror image of the Same, and that rather return "an image of ourselves in which we do not recognize ourselves" (Patrice Maniglier).
For attending students, the teaching will focus on the teacher's lectures. Photographic documentation and audiovisual materials will be used. Students who will not attend classes must discuss the examamination’s program with the teacher.
