Learning outcomes
The course is intended to provide the students with both the theoretical and practical knowledge of the basic methods used during ethnographic fieldwork. Being organized as a laboratory, the course will take advantage of several teaching methods (lectures, projections and analysis of videos and still pictures, simulations, class readings, etc.) and will guide the students to a critical understanding of the complexity of fieldwork through a participatory formula.
For such a reason, even though it is not mandatory in order to sustain the final exam, attending classes is strongly recommended.
Program
The course will be held at the University of Verona, according to the following schedule:
March, 5th – 2.00-4.30 pm, Classroom 1.5, Palazzo di Lettere Nuovo, Verona
March, 12th – 2.00-4.30 pm, Classroom 1.5, Palazzo di Lettere Nuovo, Verona

The class scheduled for the 23rd of March falls within the Corso di introduzione al sistema informatico SigecWEB per la catalogazione dei Beni Culturali, jointly organized by the University of Verona and the Soprintendenza Archeologia, Belle Arti e Paesaggio per le Province di Verona, Rovigo e Vicenza.

Examination Methods
The critical understanding of the topics object of the course will be assessed through an oral exam. Those who have attended at least four out of six classes are requested to write a short report (8/10 sheets) and present it orally (topics of the report to be agreed upon at the end of the course). The oral exam for those who have not attended the classes consists of an interview on the course readings.
The final exam, both in its written and oral form, aims to verify: the depth of the knowledge gained; the critical and rhetorical skills of the student; his/her ability in connecting topics, using the appropriate vocabulary.
Exams:
1. May 3rd, 2018, 12.00 pm - Room D3 Artemisia, third floor of Palazzo di Lettere. The deadline for submission of the report by those who attended the course is set to April, 25th 2018.
