Learning objectives
Skills are to be pursued in the field activities of remote reconnaissance; surface reconnaissance; archaeological excavation.
Prerequisites and basic notions
The teaching/activity is aimed both at PhD students in archaeological sciences involved in the various field research activities within the Prehistory and Protohistory teaching area and at Bachelor's and Master's students interested in the Prehistory and Protohistory area.
Program
Survey and archaeological excavation of some structures identified as being of interest. The methods used in archaeological investigations are applied and explained, from non-invasive methods (interpretations of aerial and satellite photos, use of LiDAR data, use of the geo magnetometer) to surface reconnaissance and archaeological excavation techniques.
Didactic methods
These methods are applied in the field to ongoing case studies (survey in Monte Palazzo, municipality of Malo, province of Vicenza; survey in the area of the Lessini high pastures; survey in the area of the lower Veronese plain, specifically in Terranegra municipality of Legnago and in Villabartolomea). The collaboration of visiting professor Wieke de Neef, a guest of the Department of Cultures and Civilisations in October and November 2023, will also be called upon.

Punctuality, reliability, ability to acquire skills, ability to work in a team.
Criteria for the composition of the final grade
A discursive judgement will be made.
