Academic calendar

Learning objectives
Students' active participation in the field of research applied to paintings is expected; the sharing of the individual experiments listed below and of the results obtained through the following methodologies: direct analysis of the work of art and its style; qualitative assessment exercise according to the comparative method; collection of historical, philological and bibliographic data in various disciplinary fields; return of data and observations with the drafting of texts according to the criteria of scientific and popular cataloging.

Program
Course title Works on display, 2023 Alessandro Turchi known as Orbetto painter on copper and blackboard: the Madonna and Child with the martyr saints Peter, Zeno and Tuscany. Verona, Cariverona Foundation Collections. The project, conceived for the second consecutive year as part of the agreement between the Department of Culture and Civilization and the Cariverona Foundation, provides for 18 hours of lectures and in addition to these moments of exercise according to the method of the connoisseur who are estimated to have as many hours of commitment individual student. This is the drafting of texts, i.e. the critical revision of a catalog entry individually edited by each student, regarding the profile of the author considered, the pinacological data and the state of conservation of the work in question, its provenance, the client , iconography, critical success, stylistic analysis. The drafting of the students' texts forms the basis of an educational exhibition of the work whose restoration is being planned. Therefore the exercise includes the design of an educational exhibition. And also: discussions with a restorer; the analysis of the works with intervention by LANIAC; research and drafting of texts by students; planning and organization of an educational exhibition, with display of the written texts and cognitive analyses.

Didactic methods
The project includes moments of practice according to the method of the connoisseur: namely the critical revision of a catalog entry with regard to the pinacological data and the state of conservation, the provenance, the commission and patronage, the iconography, the critical history and the stylistic analysis.
Including also:
the confrontation with a restorer;
the analysis of the works with the intervention of the LANIAC;
the research and writing of texts by the students;
the design and the organization of an educational exhibition, with a reading of the written texts and the knowledge analyses.

evaluation of the texts drafted individually and verified during the seminar activity
Evaluation criteria
active participation in lectures, in moments dedicated to scientific analyses, in the study visit to the Castelvecchio Museum, ability to take initiative in bibliographic research
Criteria for the composition of the final grade
there is no final grade but the assignment of 3 credits
