Learning objectives

This workshop is meant to provide an introduction to most widespread web services, main web publishing tools and the laws and regulations concerning publishing of cultural heritage data.
Students will learn how to design, implement (graphic, text & multimedia) and publish online their web sites.
The aim is to provide students with necessary skills to autonomously manage some of the most commonly used applications to create web sites.

Program

The Laboratory is divided into two modules: the first is dedicated to theoretical and practical lessons; the second is dedicated to the design and creation of a website prototype. Module 1, theoretical and practical lessons: - internet and the web: communication protocols, accessibility and usability standards; - web technologies: HTML language, CSS style sheets, Content Management System; - web design fundamentals: layout, color scheme, font, media; - content and data: copyright, GDPR, copyright and free licenses; - design and creation of websites: from collection of specifications to publication; Module 2, laboratory activity: creation of a website: - planning: definition of the topic, collection of specifications, organization and subdivision of contents, design; - realization: development of a prototype (through programming HTML programming or use of CMS). IMPORTANT: Attendance of at least 70% of the lessons is required. The laboratory is limited in number. Didactic methods

The laboratory is structured in lectures and practical activities. During the 18-hour course, students will learn the fundamental principles of web publishing, test some of the main technologies and develop a project independently. Method of teaching support: Materials and resources will be provided during the course as a support to the lessons, and uploaded on the Moodle page of the same. There will also be a tutoring activity by the teacher, who will follow the students in carrying out the papers and personal project also via the web, through the sharing of documents and editing / publishing tools.

Learning assessment procedures

The exam consists in presenting and discussing a project and a website prototype, created by applying the skills acquired. Students must send the papers to the teacher at least 10 days before the exam. Students must also demonstrate that they have understood the topics covered. Students with disabilities or specific learning disorders (SLD), who intend to request the adaptation of the exam, must follow the instructions given HERE

Evaluation criteria

Attendance at least 70% of the lessons, delivery of the papers, correctness of the answers to the exam questions.
