Learning outcomes

The aim of this basic course is to identify and analyze some of the most relevant topics and aspects of Spanish Literature produced from 1898 to 1936. Starting firstly from the cultural and social/historical context of the time, and especially from the study of the most influential literary movements of this period (Part 1), lectures will focuse secondly on the interpretation of Miguel de Unamuno’s prose fiction and Federico García Lorca’s theatre (themes, characters and literary style of the works to read), and finally on the analysis of the most outstanding poetic creation of the earlier XXth century (Part 2).

Examination Methods

Written and/ or oral examination. The written/oral examination will be carried out in Italian and includes reading, translating ad commenting of passages drawn from the texts of Part II; students are advised, then, to sit for the exam once they have acquired a linguistic competence corresponding, at least, at the B1 level.
