Learning objectives

At the end of the course the student will be able to: 1) know the principles of Russian morphology and syntax, the lexicon, and microlanguage of tourism and commerce; 2) be able to apply them to the comprehension of complex written and oral texts and in professional comunication; 3) demonstrate to have the Russian language skills that correspond to the C1 level of the CEFR.

Prerequisites and basic notions

To be admitted to the exam, it is necessary to have passed the exams in Russian Language 2 and Russian Literature 2, and to hold a C1-level language certificate.

Program

✔ MORPHO-SYNTAX
(1) Verbal aspect; manner of action (sposob dejstvija); peculiarities in the use of aspects.
(2) Participle and gerund.
(3) Negative and indefinite pronouns.
(4) Fundamental syntactic units: subject, predicate, attribute, object.
(5) The simple sentence and impersonal constructions.
(6) The complex sentence: relative, temporal, causal, final clauses, etc.
(7) Reported speech.
✔ TRANSLATION
Translation of texts from different genres, with particular focus on tourism and business texts.
Note: The program is the same for attending and non-attending students.

Learning assessment procedures

WRITTEN TEST + ORAL EXAMINATION
The written test will include questions on grammatical theory and practical exercises.
The oral examination will consist of the following parts:
(1) correction of the written test;
(2) reading of a fragment of a Russian text;
(3) grammatical commentary on the fragment;
(4) translation from Russian into Italian.
In order to take the oral examination, students must independently prepare a set of texts. The texts will be provided to students during the course.
The exam will be conducted in Russian, except for the section devoted to translation from Russian into Italian.

Students with disabilities or specific learning disorders (SLD), who intend to request the adaptation of the exam, must follow the instructions given HERE

Evaluation criteria

- Substantial accuracy and completeness of answers in terms of content;
- ability to analyze critically;
- clarity of presentation and argumentative skills;
- knowledge of subject-specific terminology.

Criteria for the composition of the final grade

The final grade will be the result of the weighted average between the grade of the language certificate (50%) and the grade of the oral examination (50%).
