Learning objectives

At the end of the course students should demonstrate that they possess a deep knowledge of modern Chinese language, particularly of modern Chinese lexicon concerning tourism and international commerce, enough for them to speak and write independently on topics regarding the specialized language of their major. At the end of the course students will reach a level of linguistic knowledge and a vocabulary required for an HSK4 certificate, corresponding to a B2 level in the international language standards.

Prerequisites and basic notions

Skills covered in Chinese Language 2.
As stipulated by the “Normative handbook for Foreign Languages and Literature students”, the validity of the B2 language proficiency certificate obtained after October 1, 2024, is 3 years from the date of its award.

Program

The course aims to consolidate students’ intermediate-level language and translation skills and to enhance linguistic and metalinguistic reflection through the analysis of texts belonging to the formal variety, related to both general and specialised communicative contexts, with particular attention to the jargon of tourism and commerce, also from a contrastive perspective. Il corso è diviso in due moduli complementari. Students’ participation to classes does not affect the focus of the course.

During the exam, candidates are required to exhibit and attach to the written test the certificate confirming the successful completion of the B2 language certification obtained at the CLA or the corresponding equivalence certificate; otherwise, they will not be allowed to take the test.

Students with disabilities or specific learning disorders (SLD), who intend to request the adaptation of the exam, must follow the instructions given HERE

Evaluation criteria

Criteria for the composition of the final grade
