Learning objectives
On successful completion of this module, students should be able to: - describe the basic concepts of grammar; - apply their theoretical knowledge to concrete linguistic data, i.e., analyze German sentences with respect to the so-called "Felderanalyse", the syntactic functions and the other concepts that will be introduced during classes; - appraise the importance of the theoretic framework for the analysis and interpretation of data; - demonstrate to have the German language skills that correspond to the B1 level of the CEFR.
Prerequisites and basic notions
There are no prerequisites.
Program
"The structure of the German sentence. Introduction to syntactic analysis". The course introduces the student to the syntactic analysis of the German language (constituent analysis; classification of lexical and syntagmatic categories; syntactic functions and grammatical relations) in the perspective of the so-called "Felderanalyse", peculiar to the German grammatical tradition.

The course will be held in Italian.
Learning assessment procedures
The exam takes place in written form, in Italian or German at the student's choice. The test is divided into two parts: a first theoretical part with open questions and a second part of exercises (analysis by fields of some simple and complex phrasal structures). Registration for the exam is subject to the achievement of level B1 language certification. Non-attending students will agree with the teacher for some bibliographic additions.
Evaluation criteria
The five exercises proposed in the writing will have a weight of 6 points each for a total of 30 points.
