Learning outcomes
The course aims to introduce students to Spanish literature of the Siglo de Oro and to approach readings of poetical and narrative texts, in particular the Don Quijote by Miguel de Cervantes.
Program
Part I – Don Quijote (S. Neri)
- The Spain of Cervantes: historic and literary context
- Don Quijote: introduction to the text and critical reading of a selection of chapters
Part II –16th Century Spanish poetry (A. Bognolo)
- Petrarchism and Garcilaso de la Vega
- Ascetic an mystical literature:Teresa d’Avila, San Juan de la Cruz, Fray Luis de León

Final oral exam. For students attending the course a facultative written exam during the course is contemplated.
