Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this module, students will be able to describe and discuss the core aspects of German grammar and its characteristics in a comparative perspective.

Program

Die Lehrveranstaltung gibt eine Übersicht über alle wichtigen Teilgebiete der Sprachwissenschaft des Deutschen mit Ausnahme der Phonetik und Phonologie, die im parallel zu dieser Lehrveranstaltung und für alle Studiengänge obligatorischen Kurs "Deutsche Sprache 3" vertieft behandelt wird. Das bedeutet: (1) Lexikon und Morphologie, (2) Syntax, (3) Semantik, (4) Pragmatik, (5) Spracherwerb, (6) Sprachwandel.

The course aims at introducing students to the different branches of the German Linguistics with the only exceptions of phonetics and phonology which are dealt with in the parallel course German Language 3. The main topics will be: 1) lexicon and morphology, 2) syntax, 3) semantics, 4) pragmatics, 5) language acquisition, 6) language change.

Examination Methods

Mündliche Prüfung. Die Prüfung umfasst sowohl Fragen zu wichtigen Grundbegriffen als auch praktische Analyseaufgaben in der Art, wie sie im Referenztext von Meibauer et al. ausgewiesen sind.
