Learning objectives

The course, which is completely held in German, is aimed at analysing authors, literary movements and texts of German literature from the 18th Century to Romanticism. At the end of the course students will be able to approach the texts from an intermedial and intercultural perspective and to properly express their knowledge in German language.

Prerequisites and basic notions

The Deutsche Literatur 3 (L-11 ED) exam can only be taken if the second-year exams in Language and Literature have been passed.

Program

The course, taught in German, aims to provide a thorough, critical examination of the authors, literary movements, and texts of German literature from the Enlightenment to Romanticism. Upon completion of the course, students will demonstrate the ability to approach the texts presented from an inter-media and intercultural perspective and to present their acquired knowledge with appropriate fluency in German.

Didactic methods

Attending students: the course will be held in German and will involve reading texts and participating in group work and discussions. Non-attending students: supplementary materials to be studied independently.

Learning assessment procedures

The exam is oral and conducted in German. The single oral exam covers the entire program and consists of an interview designed to assess: - the depth and breadth of knowledge acquired; - the ability to analyze and understand the literary texts covered; - the ability to argue and connect knowledge in a historical-cultural and literary-critical reflection; - the ability to express the relevant arguments in German. The final grade is expressed out of 30.

Students with disabilities or specific learning disorders (SLD), who intend to request the adaptation of the exam, must follow the instructions given HERE

Evaluation criteria
