Learning outcomes

Russian literature and Soviet totalitarianism. The twentieth-century Russian history through four literary experiences: B. Pasternak, V. Grossman, A. Solženicyn, V. Šalamov.
The aim of the course consists in investigating the fundamental issues of the post-revolutionary Russian history through some literary works. Thanks to a critical approach to the main works by the four selected writers, the course means to focus the great role played by literature in awakening and criticizing the Soviet totalitarianism.
The cultural and literary world of the twentieth-century Russia will be explained in its main turning points. Basic notions of method and content necessary to deal with this historic period will be provided to the students.
