Learning outcomes

Through the analysis of the structure of a narrative text (author / reader, time, space, characters) and techniques (functions, registers, construction of the periods, use of rhetorical figures), the students will be guided to understand short texts to recognize the main characteristics of the most significant textual types of narrative.
The theoretical knowledge will be joined to practical exercises: at the end of the course the students will be able to write short stories following the rules of the narrative genre.

Program

1. Analysis of different types of tales (realistic, fantastic, yellow, ...).
2. Identification of linguistic and lexical structures and expressive strategies suitable for each type of narration.

TEACHING METHODS.
Taught classes.
Guided readings and analyses of meaningful examples of short stories will be paired with written exercises. The texts will be available on the e-learning platform.
Further bibliographical indications will be provided at the beginning of the course.

NB: THE COURSE IS DEVOTED ONLY TO ATTENDING STUDENTS. In order to take the final exam, students must attend AT LEAST SEVEN LECTURES out of nine. SIGNATURES WILL BE COLLECTED.

Examination Methods

ONLY ATTENDING STUDENTS can take the final exam, which will be a written essay.
Students will be asked to write a short story choosing to develop one of three given topics.
