Learning outcomes

------------------------
MM: SOCIOLOGIA SC (I)
------------------------
The course aims to explore: 1. the correlation between society and knowledge 2. the relationship between subject and society, highlighting how the two parties co-participate in the construction of reality and thus overcoming the holistic approach (Emile Durkheim) and the individualist approach (Max Weber) 3. the close relationship between individuals, social structure and culture The monographic part will deepen the concept of material culture, above all the symbolic and communicative function that today's objects take. This second part will study food, as a specific case of cultural object that mediates and realizes tastes, values, relationships and dynamics in society.
------------------------
MM: SOCIOLOGIA DEI PROCESSI CULTURALI(P)
------------------------
Educational objectives: The course aims to train students in critical knowledge on: 1. The concept of culture and its components from a sociological point of view, therefore in relation to the social world; 2. Main characteristics of the cultural processes in contemporary glocal societies; 3. Identity in relation to social changes between traditional, modern and post-modern society. 4. Most widespread theories on communication studies 5. Journalism and objectivity, especially on American journalism. Skills learned. At the end of the course, the student must demonstrate to have learned: 1. how to use the concept of culture as defined in the various interpretations. 2. what cultural process means in relation to post-modern societies, with particular reference to complex western societies. 3. the links between knowledge, culture, identity and communication as processes, both in the individual and in the collective identity, also through an approach that recognizes the determinant of diversity as a widespread topic. 4. the different theories about the study of communication. 5. the fundamental processes of American journalism.

Program

------------------------
MM: SOCIOLOGIA SC (I)
------------------------
The course will be developed through an in-depth study of four thematic nuclei. 1. the bond between the individual and society. 2. the correlation between culture and society. 3. the symbolic function of objects today. 4. food as an element of material culture.
------------------------
MM: SOCIOLOGIA DEI PROCESSI CULTURALI(P)
------------------------
Syllabus: The course will cover the notion of five keywords: 1) Society 2) Culture 3) Identity 4) Process 5) Communication In particular, the themes will be analyzed in the light of their relationship with traditional, modern and post-modern society. It is a great space for theoretical programming as a fundamental condition for understanding the empirical plan that the course will deal with by studying the problems connected to identity. The gaze with which the issues are addressed will be constantly turned towards communication that plays a decisive role in the processes of control and social change. During the course some seminars are planned with external guests. Bibliography: M. Castells, Comunicazione e Potere, Università Bocconi Press, Milano (I-II-III and conclusion) or W.
