Learning outcomes
An introduction to the methodological instruments required for the critical study of a performing arts event, through an analytical examination of specific plays.
Program
Contents of the course:
An introduction to a critical interpretation of a theatrical performance.
During the course the following performances will be analysed in detail:
- "Il padre" di August Strindberg, regia di Massimo Castri;
- "Il gabbiano" di Anton Čechov, regia di Orazio Costa / film, regia di Marco Bellocchio;
- "Zio Vanja" di Anton Čechov, regia di Peter Stein / "Vanja sulla 42a strada", da Anton Čechov, regia di Louis Malle;
- "Enrico IV" di Pirandello, regie di Claudio Fino e Giorgio De Lullo;
- "L'ultimo nastro di Krapp" di Samuel Beckett, regia di Enrico D'Amato.

Teaching methods:
A critical analysis of primary and secondary sources such as archival fonts, iconography, performance recordings, films, videos, audio recordings, etc.
Attendance is compulsory. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, attendance at lessons will be verified by administering some exercises.
