Module: I MODULO PARTE (I)

The course aims at helping students develop their competence in English, particularly with reference to the language of the Media; special attention will be dedicated to the language of politics, advertising, journalism, and to the language of the so-called New Media. The course will also illustrate the basics of the history of English.

Program
Module: I MODULO PARTE (I)

Pre-requisites: in order to give the exam, the students need to have reached the B2 level.
MODULE 1
milestones in the history of English;
focus on English phonetics and phonology;
English morphology, with special reference to the most recurrent affixes;
analysis of broadcast and print advertisements.
Module: II MODULO PARTE (P)

Pre-requisites: in order to give the exam, the students need to have reached the B2 level.
MODULE 2
analysis of newspaper texts, with special reference to news reports, features and commentaries;
illustration of the rhetoric-discursive features typical of political language;
analysis of political speeches;
analysis and discussion of English TV programmes (mostly from Sky News, BBC World, CNN, Euronews, and Fox News).
