Academic calendar
The academic calendar shows the deadlines and scheduled events that are relevant to students, teaching and technical-administrative staff of the University. Public holidays and University closures are also indicated. The academic year normally begins on 1 October each year and ends on 30 September of the following year.

Learning outcomes
The course aims to deepen:
1. the relationship between society and knowledge
2. the relationship between individual and society, highlighting how the two sides co-participate in the construction of reality
3. the relationship between individuals, social structure and culture
4. The Concept of Material Culture,
5. a specific case of cultural objects: the food.
Program
The course will be developed through an in-depth study of four core themes.
1. the relationship between subject and society. In a perspective that considers the society' building an interaction between the subject and society itself.
2. the relationship between culture and society. The culture explicit cultural tastes, values, trends, social relationships and therefore changes and transforms following social change.
3. the symbolic function of objects today. As an element of material culture, objects are part of an open information system and they have a complex function.
4. the food as an element of material culture.Il food is important because it has different symbolic representations (food-diet, natural food, food and food, functional food to the body's health, organic food, etc.). For this reason, not only is, but also the structure of the lifestyles of the consumer who, through some specific choices, works on himself and his social representation.
