Knowledge and understanding
At the end of the workshop, the students will:
1. Know the Early Childhood Education system, the main regulations and the functions of the educator in ECEC (Early Childhood Education and Care).
2. Understand the role and posture of the trainee towards educational staff, children and families.
3. Understand the essential ethical issues of educational work.
4. Know how to use the tools of observation, journal writing and case study as resources for learning in an internship situation.
Ability to apply knowledge and understanding
At the end of the workshop, the students will:
1. Be able to analyze the functioning of the services in which the internship activity will take place in the field.
2. Develop awareness of personal motivation to work in a specific educational setting.

Prerequisites and basic notions

Program
• Learning through experience: the importance of experiential learning in educational services. • Educator skills: from listening to reflection. • Methodological tools and approaches: observation, planning, documentation, and evaluation in nursery schools. • A brief legislative history of nursery schools. • National guidelines for early childhood education services. • Pedagogical guidelines for the integrated 0-6 system. • The Educational Project: importance and implementation. • The Horizontal Curriculum: continuity in 0-6 services • The idea of the child and space as a third educator: methodological and planning perspectives
Didactic methods
Experiential methods are planned to foster learning, reflection, and sharing among students:
• Circle time
• Workshops
• Subgroup work
• Individual work
• Case studies. Professionals with experience in relevant educational services will also be invited to share their practical experience and spark further reflection by addressing aspects of the resources and critical issues of the educational profession. Professionals may come from traditional services such as nursery, micro-nursery, and preschool, as well as educational settings such as family-run nurseries and daycare centers. These meetings are intended to facilitate the achievement of the indirect internship objectives.
Learning assessment procedures
A self-assessment process will be proposed, starting from the objectives of the proposed course, including an individual-reflective component and a group-planned component. Sharing of projects completed in subgroups and final assessments will be an integral part of the student evaluation.
