Program
Petrarca's reception in Europe.
The work of Francesco Petrarca, in Latin and vernacular, in past centuries has been the subject of great attention by a vast and heterogeneous public of readers. The course aims to follow some aspects of these alternate European fortunes: after an introduction to the European reception of Petrarca's works, we will pay particular attention to the success of the Petrarchian work in some German-speaking areas and in the Veneto region.
Attending students can prepare the program on the notes taken in class and on the texts that will be published on the moodle platform.
Non-attending program:
Students who cannot attend, will prepare the exam on the following texts:
Forner, Fabio, Il ruolo degli studenti tedeschi nella diffusione delle opere petrarchesche oltre le Alpi: alcune considerazioni, in Suse Andresen, Rainer Christoph Schwinges (Hrsg.), Über Mobilität von Studenten und Gelehrten zwischen dem Reich und Italien (1400–1600) / Della mobilità degli studiosi e eruditi fra l’Impero e l'Italia (1400-1600),, Zürich, vdf Hochschulverlag, 2011, pp. 33-47. Examination Methods
N.B. important!!
It will be necessary to have successfully passed the exam on point 1 (prof. Fabio Danelon), before being able to take the exam on point 2 with prof. Fabio Forner. The final grade will be unique for the entire course program.
Assessment of the preparation will take place through an oral examination, aimed above all at verifying direct knowledge and the capacity for critical re-elaboration of the topics covered.
The vote is expressed in 30/30.

Double Degree
The University of Verona, through a network of agreements with foreign universities, offers international courses that enable students to gain a Double/Joint degree at the time of graduation. Indeed, students enrolled in a Double/Joint degree programme will be able to obtain both the degree of the University of Verona and the degree issued by the Partner University abroad - where they are expected to attend part of the programme -, in the time it normally takes to gain a common Master’s degree. The institutions concerned shall ensure that both degrees are recognised in the two countries.
Places on these programmes are limited, and admissions and any applicable grants are subject to applicants being selected in a specific Call for applications.
The latest Call for applications for Double/Joint Degrees at the University of Verona is available now!
