The Idea of a Nation. Let's build a Canon
By choosing and analyzing a corpus of relevant texts and their critical bibliography, the course intends to probe the literary representations of the idea of nation in the whole Italian tradition, from Dante to the twentieth century. In accordance with the specialist dimension that characterizes a master's degree course, the teaching will be mainly laboratory and application: activating as a 'hermeneutic community', the class will be called to the concrete preparation of the anthology containing the texts considered in the course of the lessons. "Il docente apre la sua bottega artigiana: lavora e fa lavorare" (E. Sanguineti, Appunti di didattica letteraria).
The bibliography has 5 sections: A (anthology), B (Manuals), C (Critical essays), D (Critical monographs), E (Readings). All the following texts are easily available in any library. Sections A and C will be placed on the platform "e-learning" in the University Web site and/or in a copy shop (e.g. Replay Centro Stampa Digitale, Via S. Francesco 18/A, Verona):
A) ANTHOLOGY (see introduction and B)

Double Degree
The University of Verona, through a network of agreements with foreign universities, offers international courses that enable students to gain a Double/Joint degree at the time of graduation. Indeed, students enrolled in a Double/Joint degree programme will be able to obtain both the degree of the University of Verona and the degree issued by the Partner University abroad - where they are expected to attend part of the programme -, in the time it normally takes to gain a common Master’s degree. The institutions concerned shall ensure that both degrees are recognised in the two countries.
Places on these programmes are limited, and admissions and any applicable grants are subject to applicants being selected in a specific Call for applications.
The latest Call for applications for Double/Joint Degrees at the University of Verona is available now!
