Learning objectives

The course «Greek Literature» aims at offering a deeper knowledge of the literary and linguistic aspects within the frame of the history of Greek Literature; during the teaching classes Students will translate and comment literary texts (poetry and/or prose), also considering philological aspects and using the usual ‘tools’ of the literary hermeneutic (metrical analysis, textual philology, study of the figures of style, as well as narratology, sociolinguistic, history of the interpretation). At the end of the course students should have acquired deep knowledge of the language, the literary and generic aspects of the texts analyzed, and they should be able to date, analyze and comment even other texts of the Greek literary tradition via different interpretive approaches and hermeneutic categories. Knowledge of Greek language is mandatory.
