M-DEA/01 - DEMOLOGY, ETHNOLOGY AND ANTHROPOLOGY
Period
Sem. IIB dal Apr 25, 2016 al Jun 5, 2016.
Learning outcomes
Anthropological ethnography is a universe of knowledge that is located between the "hard" sciences, human sciences, social sciences and textual studies. This course aims at providing the philosophical bases to this universe, which, over the last decades, have been discussed using explanatory paradigms and interpretative approaches.
Program
In order to demonstrate the relationship between explanatory paradigms and interpretative methods, the course will deal with the topic of the constructivist approach in the ontology study. The experiential and reflexive modalities with which an ethnographic knowledge is constructed will also be studied and the course will include the debate on overcoming the nature/culture dichotomy as a case study in order to make a highly important comparative analysis of the relationships between an ethnographic event and anthropological reflection. The construction of "existences" according to the modalities of those that have been called animism, totemism, naturalism and analogism will be examined in depth. The history of general anthropology will act as the background.
