Learning objectives

The teaching aims to provide advanced knowledge of theoretical philosophy, particularly regarding the concept of experience. The theme is taken up here as a critical contemporary category, providing both a link between the two modules of the course (dedicated respectively to "Philosophy as an exercise in transformation" and "Philosophy of images") and a fundamental tool for analyzing and problematizing the understanding of what exists. In particular, module I ("Philosophy as an exercise in transformation") aims to explore the potential and implications of a philosophy understood not only as an understanding but also as a transformation of what exists. Module II ("Philosophy of Images") intends to valorize the visual and imaginary component as a constitutive trait of Western culture, fundamental for rethinking the relationship between the subject, its processes, and the dimension of reality. Both modules will provide conceptual, methodological, and cultural elements to train and enhance critical and argumentative skills and adequate language competence. At the end of the course, the student will have acquired familiarity with the leading advanced notions of theoretical philosophy and be able to reflect on their reciprocal relationships. In addition, the student is expected tohave adequate knowledge of texts, the autonomy of judgment,t and the ability to master philosophical terminology. The course also aims to convey the ability to establish connections between knowledge critically and in an interdisciplinary form. Such knowledge and skills will enable the student to communicate, shar, and disseminate information, ideas, problems, and solutions related to the field of thought with specialists and non-specialists. In addition, also with a view to the writing of their dissertation, the student will be encouraged to develop research paths independently.
