The academic calendar shows the deadlines and scheduled events that are relevant to students, teaching and technical-administrative staff of the University. Learning objectives
The course intends to provide the fundamental elements required for an understanding of the international economic relationships which developed in the Modern and Contemporary Age. After an outline of the historical conditions and the motives underlying the expansion of Europe, the course investigates forms of organisation of production, trade and circulation of the characteristic goods from the different areas (Europe, America ...) in the 15th-20th centuries with particular emphasis on the problem of the structure of interregional and intercontinental trade routes. Consistent with the vision that inspires the CdLM, upon completion of the course the students will know the historical antecedents of the current model of market economy and will be able to compare and give historical depth to the analysis of modern economic systems.

No prior knowledge is required. We recommend consulting a high school history manual

Historical conditions and economic motivations of European expansion. The explorations, the geographical discoveries. Production and trade between the 15th and 18th centuries: goods, traffic routes, financial and commercial organisation. World trade between 1500 and 1780. Poverty and inequality. History of industrialization in the contemporary age: a global perspective. World trade and globalization between the 19th and 20th centuries. State and institutions in the global economy. The future of globalization: political and economic changes. Introduction to the global history of science and technology. The future of globalization: political and economic changes. During the lessons, we will discuss topics related to the history of marketing and business communication. The study of the text begins from chapter 4: World trade between 1500 and 1650: the exchanges of the Old World and the silver of the new p.145. For attending and non-attending students: Teaching materials and references for further information on the e-learning area will be made available. Students on the inter-university master's degree course in Historical Sciences will also be able to arrange specific in-depth readings on modern or contemporary economic history topics.

Didactic methods
Lectures and possible in-depth seminars. The teaching materials used in lessons will be available on the teaching web page. Lessons are held in person, with registration on the Panopto platform. The recording will be made available within a few days.
Learning assessment procedures
For both attending and non-attending students, the exam consists of an interview to ascertain the candidate's overall maturity through questions on the program and the indicated texts. During the oral test, which will be held in person unless otherwise indicated, various questions will be asked about the different topics of the program to verify the student's communication, presentation, and critical skills. In this regard, particular attention will be paid to: - the depth and extension of the notions learned; - the properties of language in the exposition of concepts and notions; - the ability to adequately connect the different knowledge acquired; - the ability to critically relate the events of the past with what happens in the contemporary world.
Evaluation criteria
Oral exam grades out of thirty. The evaluation will examine in particular the following skills: - depth and extension of the concepts learned; - language properties in the exposition of concepts and notions; - ability to adequately connect the different knowledge acquired; - ability to critically relate the events of the past with what happens in the contemporary world.

Nei piani didattici di ciascun Corso di studio è previsto l’obbligo di conseguire un certo numero di crediti formativi mediante attività a scelta (chiamate anche "di tipologia D e F").
Oltre che in insegnamenti previsti nei piani didattici di altri corsi di studio e in certificazioni linguistiche o informatiche secondo quanto specificato nei regolamenti di ciascun corso, tali attività possono consistere anche in iniziative extracurriculari di contenuto vario, quali ad esempio la partecipazione a un seminario o a un ciclo di seminari, la frequenza di laboratori didattici, lo svolgimento di project work, stage aggiuntivo, eccetera.
Come per ogni altra attività a scelta, è necessario che anche queste non costituiscano un duplicato di conoscenze e competenze già acquisite dallo studente.
Quelle elencate in questa pagina sono le iniziative extracurriculari che sono state approvate dalla Commissione didattica e quindi consentono a chi vi partecipa l'acquisizione dei CFU specificati, alle condizioni riportate nelle pagine di dettaglio di ciascuna iniziativa.

- tutte queste iniziative richiedono, per l'acquisizione dei relativi CFU, il superamento di una prova di verifica delle competenze acquisite, secondo le indicazioni contenute nella sezione "Modalità d'esame" della singola attività;
- lo studente è tenuto a inserire nel proprio piano degli studi l'attività prescelta e a iscriversi all'appello appositamente creato per la verbalizzazione, la cui data viene stabilita dal docente di riferimento e pubblicata nella sezione "Modalità d'esame" della singola attività.

ATTENZIONE: Per essere ammessi a sostenere una qualsiasi attività didattica, incluse quelle a scelta, è necessario essere iscritti all'anno di corso in cui essa viene offerta. Si raccomanda, pertanto, ai laureandi delle sessioni di dicembre e aprile di NON svolgere attività extracurriculari del nuovo anno accademico, cui loro non risultano iscritti, essendo tali sessioni di laurea con validità riferita all'anno accademico precedente. Quindi, per attività svolte in un anno accademico cui non si è iscritti, non si potrà dar luogo a riconoscimento di CFU.

Graduation
The final exam consists of a paper in written form of at least 80 pages, exploring a topic of the student's choice relating to one of the subjects in the student's syllabus. The topic and title of the paper must be selected in agreement with a university lecturer from one of the SSDs included in the student's syllabus. The work must be developed under the guidance of the lecturer. The thesis is the subject of an oral presentation and discussion in front of a Degree Committee on one of the dates established explicitly in the calendar of teaching activities. In agreement with the Supervisor, the thesis may be written, and the discussion may take place in English.

Internships
The curriculum of the three-year degree courses (CdL) and master's degree courses (CdLM) in the economics area includes an internship as a compulsory training activity. Indeed, the internship is considered an appropriate tool for acquiring professional skills and abilities and for facilitating the choice of a future professional outlet that aligns with one's expectations, aptitudes, and aspirations. The student can acquire further competencies and interpersonal skills through practical experience in a work environment.

Modalità di frequenza, erogazione della didattica e sedi
Le lezioni di tutti gli insegnamenti del corso di studio, così come le relative prove d’esame, si svolgono in presenza.
Peraltro, come ulteriore servizio agli studenti, è altresì previsto che tali lezioni siano registrate e che le registrazioni vengano messe a disposizione sui relativi moodle degli insegnamenti, salvo diversa comunicazione del singolo docente.
La frequenza non è obbligatoria.
