Learning outcomes
This module deals with the waste and wastewaters management in cellars. The main parameters for different treatment processes will be considered.
Program
Normative framework for waste and wastewater management in cellars Italy.
Type and characteristics of wastes and wastewaters. Specific production of pollutants.
Analysis of the different process options for waste and wastewater biological treatment.
Chemical-physical and biological treatment of wastewaters: main characteristics and operational conditions of different chemico-physical and biological operations for wastewater treatment. Definition of anaerobic processes, waste activated sludge (aerobic) processes. Biological nitrogen removal, nitrification and denitrification. Biological phosphorous removal. Combined biological N & P removal. Chemical P removla.
Cellar solid waste
Quantity and characteristics of organic and inorganic waste, their catalogue definition and disposal.
Examination Methods
The final examination consists of a written test on definitions and numerical exercises on the main operational units
