Learning outcomes
The course aims to deepen the understanding of the aspects of textuality and terminology of English for commerce and tourism through the analysis of specialized newpapers and magazine and of the digital discourse of promotional texts. At the end of the course students will demonstrate the ability to write in English about the topics and the exemplifications discussed during the course. Prerequisite: Varieties of English.

Introduction to the study of the varieties of English for tourism and commerce
Appraisal System and analysis of the promotional lexicon with exemplification from touristic brochures
Introduction to standards of linguistics text analysis with exemplification from 'The Economist"
The management of English in business and organizational contexts
Multimodality in the touristic discourse and e-commerce

Examination Methods
Only students who have already passed the Varieties of English 1 exam will have access the final exam of Varieties of English 2. The final exam is a test with closed, semi-open, and open questions. Students are advised to prepare the material and do the activities uploaded on Moodle. Non-attendant students will be required to study the material on Moodle and the books and papers listed in the bibliography. Please refer to any further notification on the Moodle platform for the course.
