Learning objectives
The course will give a diachronic description of Russian language, focusing on some substantial moments in its historical evolution and paying specific attention to both the socio-cultural approach and the sectorial languages. The course provides those linguistic materials that give the students the necessary awareness concerning the historical and cultural aspects of the Russian language. This approach does not overlook how the language is put in practice in a working environment. At the end of the course, the student will be able to: 1) know the fundamental traits of the diachronic development of the Russian language; 2) use the specific historical-linguistic knowledge acquired during the course; 3) analyse and interpret literary and non-literary texts from different epochs. For students of LM19 – who have a C1 level in Russian – text analysis will deal specifically with the areas of journalism, politics, advertisement and popularisation.

Didactic methods
The course will be held in Russian.
The teaching methods of the course provide for maximum group interaction of students and teacher and will be based on a seminar principle. The teacher will provide some methodological and cognitive coordinates and materials through which to start the analysis of certain socio-linguistic phenomena. Students will be asked to interact in the analysis (group mode) and to choose a specific theme to explore individually and expose at a later time.
Supporting materials (texts and audio-visual material) will be made available on the dedicated e-learning platform. Non-attending students: variations compared to the program for attending students are expected to be agreed directly with the teacher.
The teacher will be available to clarify doubts and/or provide further bibliographical information during office hours on the days and times indicated on the web page.
Teaching support methods:
The supplementary and supporting teaching materials will be uploaded to the teaching Moodle platform, accompanied by explanatory notes.
Furthermore, potential interested parties are advised that a specific support and tutoring activity is available for inclusion and accessibility, in particular in relation to Language and Literature teachings in the French, English, Russian, Spanish and German areas. The activities will take place from November 2022 to June 2023 and will be advertised on the Department page.
How to make up for missed lessons: lessons that the teacher cannot hold will be made up during the semester after due and timely communication to the students and possibly in the same time slots.
