Period
Corsi elettivi 2° semestre dal Feb 20, 2017 al May 26, 2017.
Learning outcomes
To describe the survival mechanisms activated by bacteria in adverse environments. To analyze the possible risks for human health associated to bacteria surviving in food, water, human body. To present the molecular methods enabling the detection and study of non-dividing bacteria and the monitoring of the microbiological quality of environments. To critically evaluate the role and biological significance of bacterial survival strategies in human health and medicine.
Program
Bacterial survival in the environment: stress response
Non dividing bacteria are a risk for human health?: the VBNC state
The biofilm as a survival strategy of medical interest
Examination Methods
No examination, participation to all the four lessons
