Learning outcomes
This activity has been developed for students interested in sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and, in particular, in HIV infection. A specific aspect of this course is the holistic approach in dealing with HIV covering both the main medical-technical aspects of the HIV management and the psyco-social impact on dealing with HIV, from doctors and clients'perspectives. The aim of this course is to provide medical students a touch of real-life experience in order to let them think the way they want to manage HIV positive patients as doctors.
In order to be practical, we will invite trainees in Infectious Diseases (HIV/STIs Unit) to make them talk on the most challenging situation they had to face and the way in which they cope with them. Whether possible, clients who attend our clinic will be invited to give students a real-life touch of what is living with HIV.
