Learning outcomes
Pain is the main medical problem and it is commonly associated with the rheumatic diseases. This course undertakes:
- to define the different types of pain in rheumatology (inflammatory or not inflammatory pain)
- to evaluate the different pharmacological and non pharmacological therapeutic strategies on the basis of scientific evidences
The course is organized on 3 lessons covering theoretical and practice activities
Program
The course is based on three lessons regarding different topics:
- pathologic and physiologic pain
- different kind of pain in rheumatology ( inflammatory pain , degenerative pain, ...)
- efficacy of different pharmacologic and non paharmacologic therapies and thei evaluation
- placebo effect
- role of carticosteroids
- role of NSAIDs
- role of paracetamol
- role of opioids
- conclusions and take home messages
Examination Methods
Active participation to the meetings is mandatory . There is no further evaluation.
