Learning outcomes
The course aims to provide the basic elements for the knowledge and the clinical evaluation of melanoma and other pigmented lesions that can simulate this serious cancer. Cutaneous melanoma presents a poor prognosis if caught at an advanced stage, while with earlydiagnosis survival may be as much as 98-100%. Particular attention will be then given to the elements of early detection of this cancer and the criteria of differential diagnosis with melanocytic nevi and other pigmented skin lesions.

Cutaneous melanoma: epidemiology, risk factors, clinical aspects, staging and therapy.
Melanocytic nevi: clinical aspects and elements of risk.
Other skin pigmented lesions: circumscribed hyperpigmentation, epithelial lesions, vascular lesions,
Diagnostic aid techniques: optical magnification, dermatoscopy, digital epiluminescence.
