Learning outcomes
Goal of this Course is to introduce the students to the field of Intraoperative Neurophysiology, as an essential contribution to modern Neurosurgery. The Course will review the role of neurophysiological monitoring and mapping techniques in complex neurosurgical procedures such as those for brain tumors in eloquent areas, brainstem tumors, spinal cord tumors, acoustic neuromas, tethered cords, and others. In doing so, the functional anatomy of the central nervous system will be reviewed from a neurosurgical perspective. Finally, the students will be given the opportunity to assist one of these procedures in the operating theater.
