Learning objectives

Particular attention will be paid to the interpretation of laboratory tests that affect the diagnosis of the main nephrological, endocrinological, oncological and hematological pathologies, discussing some clinical cases. The appropriate methodology in the collection and processing phase of biological samples; The pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical variables that can influence the reliability of laboratory results.

Prerequisites and basic notions

Knowledge of Anatomy, Biochemistry, physiology, pathophysiology and general pathology.

Program

In this elective course the following will be taken into consideration: 1. The role of Laboratory Medicine in the diagnostic process and monitoring of pathologies and drugs. Particular attention will be paid to the interpretation of laboratory tests that affect the diagnosis of the main nephrological, endocrinological, oncological and hematological pathologies, discussing some clinical cases. 2. The appropriate methodology in the collection and processing phase of biological samples; 3. The pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical variables that can influence the reliability of laboratory results.
