Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to provide an overview on neuropathic pain (NP). Despite being a common condition, NP is difficult to recognize for the general practitioner and the specialist. In recent years, the redefinition of NP and the introduction of drugs, which are specific for this condition, have made this clinical condition more easily approachable and manageable. The main themes of the elective course will be as follows:
1. Physiology and pathophysiology of NP
2. Clinical features of NP, clinical scales and questionnaires, case presentations examples
3. The diagnosis of NP
4. Drug therapy of NP
5. Invasive treatment (neuromodulation, drugs intrathecally) for NP
6. Rehabilitation of NP
