Scientific Disciplinary Sector (SSD)
MED/39 - CHILD NEUROPSYCHIATRY
Period
Corsi elettivi 1° semestre dal Oct 10, 2016 al Dec 22, 2016.
Learning outcomes
The students will acquire knowledge regarding macrostructure and microstructure of sleep, its maturation from birth to adulthood, as well as the homeostatic processes regulating it. These information will be provided along with the explanation of the principal investigation methods for studying sleep available in clinical neurophysiology (such as video-polysomnography, actigraphic monitoring, multiple sleep latency test , etc. ). The students will also be given the tools to understand the diagnostic value and limitations of different methods in the study of sleep- related diseases, with particular attention to the pediatric age and the differential diagnosis between pathological and para-physiological phenomena.
Program
Sleep organization and maturatio
Electrophysiological basis of polysomnography
Sleep staging
Video-Polysomnographic features of sleep disorders
Examination Methods
attending 3/5 lectures will serve as approval.
