Learning outcomes

The aim of this course is to provide the students with the knowledge concerning the treatment of both medical and surgical emergencies. Particular relevance is given to the clinical-diagnostic framework of the different pathologies, in order to recognize them and to implement a proper and quick diagnosis and treatment.

Program

. Identification of the main emergencies and urgencies in clinical practice
. Diagnostic and therapeutic approaches to the main urgencies.
. Principles of cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
. How to manage a patient that needs emergency surgery.
. The main anesthesia techniques.
. Management of acute pain.

Examination Methods

Oral exam. The student will be asked about 2-3 topics regarding medical and surgical emergencies, anesthesia, intensive care, management of pain. The commission will be formed by 2 professors, randomly selected among the panel.
